Chartered Accountants in Wisbech

Wisbech, known as the Capital of the Fens, was first mentioned in the charter of the Saxon King Wulphere in 664, when it was called Visebec.
The draining of the fens in the 17th century brought prosperity to Wisbech as produce from the resulting rich agricultural land flowed through the port. As the town’s landowners and merchants grew wealthy, they built elegant houses along the banks of the River Nene. Facing each other across the water, North Brink and South Brink are considered among the finest Georgian streets in England and Peckover House is a notable example.
Today the thriving town has a population of about 20,200. Its attractions include the Wisbech and Fenland Museum, the Market Place, the Angles Theatre and Elgoods Brewery, where visitors can sample traditional ale and enjoy the four acre brewery garden.
Wisbech Port, Cambridgeshire's link with the sea, is still busy with commercial shipping but has recently developed a harbour for small craft, including a major extension of pontoon mooring in May 2000 at Wisbech Yacht Harbour.
