File online…or pay the price

Taxpayers who have yet to file a tax return for 2013-14 have just a few weeks to do so online if they want to avoid a financial penalty.

The deadline for paper returns expired on 31 October and anyone who submits a paper return to HM Revenue & Customs after that date – even if they have no tax to pay or pay their tax on time – will receive an automatic £100 late filing penalty.

To avoid the penalty, taxpayers must submit an online return by midnight on 31 January 2015.

If you need assistance with completing your self-assessment tax return, then the team at Moore Thompson can help.
