Accountants and tax planners from Moore Thompson Chartered Accountants are offering landlords and property investors a helping hand as they try to deal with changes to the industry’s tax regime.
The firm, which has offices across the East of England, are holding two free seminars for buy-to-let investors, which will seek to answer some of the common issues landlords have about the changing nature of the property sector.
The events will take place at Boston West Golf Course in Hubert’s Bridge, Boston on Tuesday 12 July 2016 and at The Boathouse Business Centre in Harbour Square, Wisbech on Wednesday 20 July 2016. Both free seminars start at 4.30pm.
Tim Martin, Taxation Partner at Moore Thompson will cover a range of topics at the talks including changes to mortgage interest relief, increase to stamp duty land tax on second homes and amendments to the Wear and Tear allowance.
He will be joined by Trevor Wilshire, Director of MT Financial Management who will be exploring the tax planning opportunities available under the new ISA regime.
Mark Hildred, Managing Partner at Moore Thompson, said: “Over the last 12 months the buy-to-let sector has faced a number of tough challenges and the once excellent returns have been somewhat overshadowed by ever greater tax increases.
“While many landlords may feel that they have few options moving forward, there is still plenty they can do to mitigate the changes that have been introduced.”
