A charity race night organised by leading accountants Moore Thompson has raised nearly £1,600 for Anna’s Hope – the leading children’s brain tumour charity in the East of England.

More than 70 guests placed their bets at the event held at the South Holland Centre in Spalding, which was organised by the firm’s own in-house charity The Moore Thompson Charity Fund CIO.

The action packed night saw lots of the region’s business leaders making donations to Anna’s Hope, as participants bet on races and took part in the auction race, which was won by Pygott and Crone Estate Agents who donated all their winnings to charity.

Inspired by Anna Olivia Hughes, who tragically died from a brain tumour aged only three years and eight months, the charity was set up 10 years ago by Anna’s parents Rob and Carole Hughes and her five Godparents and has raised more than a million pounds since.

Anna’s Mum, Carole, joined us at the race night to explain how the money raised from our event will make a difference to youngsters and their families.

Mark Hildred, Moore Thompson’s Managing Partner, said: “Our race night was a fantastic success and we have been completely blown away by the £1,588 worth of donations we have received. We were also truly honoured to welcome Carole who provided such a moving account of the difference the charity makes to youngsters in our region.

“I am glad that the money raised at this event will go to such a wonderful cause and I would like to thank all the businesses that took part and donated prizes to this event.”

Last year the Moore Thompson Charity Fund CIO raised nearly £3,000 for charity helping two local causes, LIVES and Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

This year they hope to raise even more money for a number of organisations and charities, with a host of planned events over the next weeks and months.
