The Moore Thompson Charity Fund CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) was officially launched in 2014 with the aim of fundraising to support good causes locally, regionally and nationally.
It is led by a board of trustees made up of staff members from the firm’s offices in Spalding, Wisbech and Market Deeping and from its associate companies MT Financial Management Ltd.
In 2016, the The Moore Thompson Charity Fund CIO raised we raised £2,800 which was split between Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and the charity, ‘Lives’.
Our fundraising plans for the year ahead
This year, we will support a separate chosen charity for each professionals’ event we hold. A representative from that charity will be invited to attend our event to explain how the funds raised will help support the good work of their organisation.
This year our professionals’ events will be supporting two charities:
The charity, which is now in its tenth year, was inspired by Anna Olivia Hughes, who tragically died from a brain tumour aged only three years and eight months, and was set up by Anna’s parents Rob and Carole Hughes and her five Godparents in October 2006.
Our charity race night on Thursday 8 June 2017 will raise much needed funds for this deserving charity.
Our second chosen charity is The Lincolnshire Autistic Society, which is dedicated to building awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders [ASD] and associated conditions, to help improve the quality of life and outcomes for children and adults, their parents and carers living with ASD.
The Lincolnshire Autistic Society has been specially selected in memory of Jenny Nicolson, our much loved colleague and former tax manager at Moore Thompson’s Spalding office, who passed away suddenly in 2016. Jenny had worked for Moore Thompson for many years and was an extremely enthusiastic quiz buff. It is therefore fitting that our annual Professional Quiz night on 5 October 2017 will be held in her memory and in aid of a charity close to Jenny’s heart.
Throughout the year we will also be organising a number of other charity events, the proceeds of which will be donated to the local Priory School charity.
Part of the Spalding Special Schools Federation, the Priory School meets the needs of pupils aged 11 to 16, all of whom have moderate learning difficulties and many of whom have ASD and social communication difficulties. The school is currently fund raising to help purchase a new minibus.
So far we have the following events planned including:
13 April – MT Bake Off
22 July – The Orbit Abseil
December – Charity jumpers and festive accessories day.
This means that in 2017 we are working harder than ever to raise money for our three worthy local causes/not for profit organisations and we hope we can count on your continued support and generosity to make a difference to the charities which make such a difference to our local community.
