Ken Maggs BA (Hons), FCA - Resident Partner & Head of Charities

Ken Maggs graduated in accounting and finance from Nottingham Trent Polytechnic’s business school, then trained and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1995 with a small, local firm. He joined Moore Thompson in July 2000 from Saffery Champness and became a partner in 2006. He has considerable experience of working with charities and the voluntary sector, as well as the core commercial clients. He has experience of fund accounting and the need for distinct and manageable reserves policies within the sector. Ken was involved with the Peterborough HE Project prior to joining Moore Thompson, dealing directly with the Board at Loughborough University. Ken takes overall responsibility for the firm’s audit and technical compliance, which means that he is continuously developing his technical knowledge and is able to give informed advice in respect of disclosure requirements. Despite this legislative type of role, the advice he gives will be commercial and specific to the client. Ken will assist David Turpin with the firm’s academy clients and uses his experience and knowledge from the charity and voluntary sector to provide the additional support required.
