Trek marks end of fantastic fundraising year for leading accountants

trek-fundraising1The in-house charity of leading East of England accountants Moore Thompson are celebrating having raised a record amount of money in 2015.

With the start of the new year the Moore Thompson Charitable Fund CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) have reflected on their previous years fundraising which raised more than 3,600 for good causes – a record amount for the organisation.

Their final fundraising event of the year saw a group of five staff members take part in a 16.9 mile hike around Market Deeping.

The team, consisting of Chelsea Wilshire, James Walsham, Emma Wilson, Kirsty Holmes and Jayne Booth, set off from the firm’s offices in Market Place in the pouring rain and walked a set route, which took in many of the town’s well known landmarks before returning back to their offices.

The group hoped to raise around £500 for the firm’s Fund by completing their walk, but they ended up beating their target raising £767.

Emma Wilson, one of the walkers and a Senior Accountant at Moore Thompson, said: “The walk was mentally and physically challenging. It was three degrees Celsius and rained for nearly the entire journey.

“None of us realised it would be as hard as it was but we all kept going and we are absolutely delighted to have raised so much money.”

The walk was also a chance for the staff at Moore Thompson to mark the tenth anniversary of their Market Deeping office.

Mark Hildred, Managing Partner at Moore Thompson, said: “Everyone at Moore Thompson is absolutely delighted with the amount of money raised during 2015.

“This is the largest amount we have raised so far and will go a long way to helping support the charitable organisations that our fund supports. I hope that 2016 will see even more money raised for great causes.”

The Moore Thompson Charitable Fund CIO was officially launched in 2014 with the aim of fundraising to support good causes locally, regionally and nationally.

It is led by a board of trustees made up of staff members from the firm’s offices in Spalding, Wisbech and Market Deeping and from its associate companies MT Financial Management Ltd and MT Computer Consulting Ltd.
