Claire Bailey-Scott
Claire Bailey-Scott
1994

Claire joined Moore Thompson in 1994 and qualified as a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians in 1996. During her first 10-year stretch with us, she rose to the position of Tax Semi-Senior.

In 2004, Claire decided to leave us and pursue other projects in which she was particularly interested. During her 12 years away from Moore Thompson, she worked for various accounting firms, gaining unparalleled experience with a range of clients and their businesses.

In 2016, Claire decided to come back to Moore Thompson and was welcomed with open arms.

Her time at other firms and working with fellow tax specialists has been absolutely invaluable to everyone at Moore Thompson and she remains a well-respected, genuine expert in her field.

Today, Claire is one of our Tax Managers and has a guiding hand in leading our clients through complex taxation matters.

Phil Bryan
Phil Bryan
1995

Phil joined Moore Thompson in 1995 after having completed a degree in Accountancy and Finance.

In 2000, he qualified as a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and four years later became a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA)

By this time, he had carved out an important and vital role within the firm and shortly after, Phil was promoted to Audit & Accounts Manager.

In 2016, he qualified ACA as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW) and achieved his Practicing Certificate.

In 2022, Phil was promoted to Associate and has no intention of stopping any time soon!

Emma Wilson
Emma Wilson
2004

In 2004, Emma completed her high school work experience in the audit and accounts department of Moore Thompson and two years later returned for further work experience whilst completing her A-Levels!

Then, in 2007, she joined Moore Thompson as an Audit & Accounts Trainee before qualifying as a member of Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) in 2009.

A year later, she was promoted to Audit and Accounts Senior – a result of her hard work and dedication.

In 2014, Emma qualified as a member of Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and became a Fellow of Association of Accounting Technicians

Three years later, she was again promoted to Audit and Accounts Manager.

In 2019, Emma became a Fellow of ACCA (FCCA).

In 2022, she was promoted to Partner and was appointed UK200 Group Ambassador for the firm – something she is particularly proud of.

Teresa Holland
Teresa Holland
2006

In 2006, Teresa joined Moore Thompson as a Receptionist/Secretary. In 2009, she was promoted to Admin Assistant.

Then, Teresa rose to Senior Administrator and finally Administration Manager in 2013

During her time with Moore Thompson, Teresa has completed and achieved a certificate in Admin & Management. She also became a Member of Chartered Management Institute (MCMI).

She remains the backbone of our administration department and is a crucial part of the way our office runs.

Matt Storey
Matt Storey
2007

In 2008, Matt joined Moore Thompson as an audit & account senior, having previously qualified as a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).

Despite joining the team only a year earlier, Matt quickly proved his mettle and was promoted to audit and accounts Manager in 2009.

In 2012, he became a Fellow of Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and six years later was made Partner at the firm.

Matt now works with a range of clients, advising on a variety of matters but his specialist areas include haulage, wholesalers, property, construction and plant hire & sales.

Hannah Butcher

2007

Hannah joined Moore Thompson and qualified as an AAT in 2007.

Shortly thereafter, she was awarded 3rd in the World for the final five ACCA exams results – a huge achievement and demonstration of the high-flying nature of all those who work at Moore Thompson.

In 2013, she was promoted to Audit and Accounts Manager and achieved a degree in accountancy the year after.

Since then, Hannah qualified as an ACA, was promoted Associate and finally became a Partner in 2023.

Jodie North
2011

Jodie joined Moore Thompson as an Accounts Trainee in 2011 and completed her Level 4 AAT the year after.

In 2015, she was promoted to Audit and Accounts Senior and became ACCA qualified the year after.

In the same year, Jodie achieved a degree in Applied Accounting and was promoted to Audit and Accounts Manager in 2018.

Kieran Smith
Kieran Smith
2017

Kieran joined Moore Thompson in 2017 after some time working in payroll and HR at a college. Initially starting as a payroll manager, he began honing his skills in compliance across various industries.

In this role, Kieran built up his experience incredibly quickly – especially when compared to an in-house payroll specialist.

He also began developing systems that streamline payroll processes and significantly improve the accuracy of clients’ wages.

Innovation is something highly prized at Moore Thompson and, as a result, Kieran was promoted to HR & Payroll Director in 2021.

Adam Gregory
Adam Gregory
2017

Starting his career at Moore Thompson, Adam joined as an Accounts Trainee in 2017, working in our strategic business unit. During this time, he built up experience and knowledge in VAT and Income Tax returns.

He then moved to the audit and accounts department in 2018 and rose to the rank of Audit and Accounts Semi-Senior. Here, Adam conducted audits and prepared accounts for limited companies of various sizes.

In 2023, Adam was promoted again to Audit and Accounts Senior and is now leading audits, including group audits for medium-sized companies.

He also prepares consolidated financial statements, trains new staff and advises our clients on company law and maintaining statutory records.

As you can see, all our team have come from different backgrounds and have taken different paths when it comes to accountancy.

Yes, we offer apprenticeship schemes for people who have completed A Levels and/or non Finance based degrees. These roles give you the opportunity to learn on the job as well as studying for an Accountancy or Tax qualification. Keep checking our website or social media to see when these opportunities are available.
