A client of leading accountancy firm Moore Thompson is looking for an experienced expert to join its management team as a Financial Controller.

The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role within this very successful business and will work closely with the experienced team at Moore Thompson.

It will be their responsibility to manage all things related to the financial activities of this business; advising and guiding as to best practice, compliance and business decision making.

They will also fulfil a role as an influencer and will be an ambassador for the business, working with other senior individuals to create future strategies and direction for the business. They should, therefore, be able to direct and lead change.

LOCATION:               Spalding Lincolnshire

REPORTING TO:      Finance Director, Spain

HOURS:                     40 hours, Monday to Friday and weekends in Summer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Responsible for balancing and reporting, ensuring month-end reporting is correct and improving the underlying recording of Company transactions
  • Producing the annual statutory financial accounts for the business
  • Costings analysis including the production of annual budgets and forecasts as required, as well as the monitoring of performance against those targets
  • Implementing and reviewing internal financial controls and reporting procedures to ensure compliance
  • Control of cash management including cash flow projection, daily cash flow and credit control activities
  • Preparing, examining and analysing financial reports and data
  • Full involvement in the management of the business, contributing and offering advice and guidance
  • Participation in Board meetings and management meetings
  • Responsibility for all bank and lender negotiations
  • Hands-on responsibility for all accounting activities such as purchase and sales ledgers
  • Responsibility for all internal payments such as expenses, credit card transactions, payment runs and overseeing of payroll functions
  • Overseeing of employee benefits, pension compliance, all business insurance, vehicle management, plant and machinery and IT infrastructure
  • Management and overseeing of external accountants and auditors.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified accountant preferred but not essential as equivalent experience will be considered
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience of working in a similar management accountant role.

SKILLS

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to use MS Excel to an advanced level
  • IT competency across a wide range of applications including Sage, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to present technical data to an audience in a way that is understandable
  • Attention to detail and the ability to lead, organise and prioritize workload effectively.
