After 31 July 2023, the timeframe to fill gaps will revert to six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any payments before the deadline will be made at the lower 2022 to 2023 tax year rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HMRC is advising taxpayers to take the following action before the new deadline:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/check-national-insurance-record\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Check your NI record<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Identify any discrepancies between NI contributions paid and those showing on HMRC\u2019s system<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Identify any NI credits that are missing from periods in which they should have been received for example, on receipt of universal credit or child benefit)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Identify any shortfalls in contributions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/hm-revenue-customs\/contact\/national-insurance-enquiries-for-employees-and-individuals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Contact HMRC<\/a>&nbsp;if you think there are any errors<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Decide whether to make&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/voluntary-national-insurance-contributions\/deadlines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voluntary NI contributions<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are you eligible for the new maximum State Pension?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify for the new maximum State Pension, you must have at least 35 years of qualifying NI contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if you don\u2019t qualify for a full State Pension, you may still receive a partial payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To receive a partial State Pension, you need a minimum of 10 qualifying years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To ensure you receive the maximum State Pension, having a complete National Insurance record is essential. &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contact our team today for advice on this and related matters.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You need to have a complete National Insurance (NI) record to ensure that you qualify for the maximum State Pension.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[26,114,3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-19984","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog","category-personal-taxes-and-finances","category-tax"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Have you made your voluntary National Insurance (NI) contributions?
