Key Dates

Although many of us have been enjoying a warmer September than usual, there’s no doubt that autumn is approaching – which means it is time, once again, to focus attention on important tax dates.

Whilst September is a relatively quiet month, there are three key submission dates in October that you need to be mindful of, so it makes sense to get ahead now.

  1. The deadline for notifying HMRC of chargeability for Income Tax/Capital Gains Tax for 2010-21, if you are not registered for Self-Assessment, is 5 October.

You will need to complete and submit either form CWF1 for self-employment, form SA1 for non-self-employed income, or form SA401 for becoming a partner in a partnership.

  1. Electronic payments for Income tax and National Insurance, which are due under a voluntary PAYE Settlement Agreement, are payable by 19 October.
  2. Paper submissions of Self-Assessment tax returns for the tax year ended 5 April 2021 must be received by HMRC no later than midnight on 31 October.
