Key dates: All eyes on 22 November – what will the Chancellor do next?

As the nights draw in, the focus is currently upon one particular key date which will affect us all.

The clock is ticking and there is less than a month to go before Philip Hammond delivers his widely anticipated autumn Budget on 22 November.

So far, there have been few ‘official leaks’ or clues about the Government’s intentions regarding future fiscal plans for the country.

The Treasury has so far remained tight-lipped on keynote announcements, but the Guardian has reported that the Chancellor is being urged to deliver a ‘bold’ Budget which will not only tackle housing problems but may also propose a tax relief linked to age, offering younger workers reduced National Insurance contributions.

Others are calling on him to cancel the 3 pence fuel duty rise and to protect the triple lock state pension guarantee.

Only time will tell whether these predictions are, in fact, correct. However, one thing remains certain; whatever the Chancellor has in store for us all, careful tax planning – for businesses and individuals alike – remains one of the essential requirements.
