The Living Wage Foundation has released figures indicating that 14 per cent of women in employment are paid below the real Living Wage in the UK, compared to 9 per cent of men, which equates to 1.4 million women.<\/p>\n

The real Living Wage is currently set at \u00a310.90 an hour across the UK, and \u00a311.95 in London, and is calculated based on the cost of the basics required for a decent standard of living.<\/p>\n

The charity also noted that women tend to earn less, and thus have been disproportionately affected by the cost-of-living crisis.<\/p>\n

The report also highlighted that women are more likely to be on zero-hours work contracts and less likely to be paid for a cancelled shift.<\/p>\n

60 per cent of all jobs that pay below the real Living Wage are held by women, and three-quarters of women reported that their pay increases their anxiety levels.<\/p>\n

The Living Wage Foundation is encouraging all businesses that can to join its network of 12,000 Living Wage employers.<\/p>\n

The real Living Wage is voluntarily paid by these employers, including Aviva, Lush, Burberry, Nationwide, Oxfam, and Nestle, among thousands of others.<\/p>\n
