Matthew Upex FCCA – Partner
Matthew strongly believes that talking to clients and getting to know their businesses are the approaches that put him in the best possible position to help them achieve their goals. His client-focused approach means he is always happy to meet potential new clients, no matter what the size of their business, for a free, initial consultation.
Since Matthew began his accountancy career in 2000, he has worked with businesses ranging from sole traders to multi-million pound turnover groups across all sectors and in locations including London, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and Scotland. He draws on this experience to explore issues from a variety of angles to establish the most appropriate course of action.
While preparing accurate accounts is crucial, Matthew sees the process as just the start of building long-term relationships that enable him to deliver ongoing support to his clients, something he finds particularly rewarding. He also enjoys exploring tax rules and applying them to individual circumstances to deliver effective tax mitigation proposals.
His wider experience includes management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, corporation tax and VAT issues and he has particular expertise in the restaurant, pub and hospitality sector and in charity audits.
Matthew joined the Moore Thompson team in 2007, before becoming a Manager at the Market Deeping office since 2012 and later promoted to the position of Partner in 2018. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
