Agricultural businesses have been invited to apply for grant funding under the first round of the Farming Innovation Programme.<\/span><\/p>\n The scheme, announced earlier this year, forms part of plans to support farmers, growers, foresters, and others in the wake of Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n The initiative is split into three separate funding rounds: the \u2018industry-led R&D partnerships fund\u2019, which launched this week, the \u2018farming futures R&D fund\u2019, launching early next year, and the \u2018projects to accelerate adoption fund\u2019, launching later in 2022.<\/p>\n According to the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), \u00a317.5 million is available in the first round, aimed at agricultural businesses seeking to \u201cdevelop new technologies and practices that will help them overcome challenges\u201d and \u201cexploit new opportunities in the sector\u201d \u2013 such as the use of artificial intelligence and low-emission machineries.<\/p>\n The fund \u2013 split into three separate competitions \u2013 is open for applications for five to six weeks.
