Up to £850 million of COVID-19 support grants still available

New Government figures suggest that there could be up to £850 million of COVID support grants left nationwide that are not currently being utilised by businesses.

Business Minister Paul Scully has called on companies across the country to check what grants may be available to them and claim them before grant schemes are closed.

The availability of grant support varies from one local authority to the next, but many councils are still offering access to the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant (OHLG) scheme and Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG).

The OHLG offers a one-off cash amount of up to £6,000 per premise for businesses in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors to support those worst affected by the Omicron variant.

Meanwhile, the ARG scheme provides councils with funding they can allocate at their discretion to businesses most in need.

Small Business Minister Paul Scully said: “We’re working to get our economy running on all cylinders again so we can focus on making the UK the best place in the world to work and do business, creating jobs along the way.

“Eligible businesses should apply as soon as possible for the grants available to help them put the pandemic behind them and get on a sounder footing to achieve success.”

All applications must be made via your local authority, which will have details on their websites about the remaining funding available.
