Potential grants to explore in the first quarter of 2025

At the start of the new year, it’s always worth exploring some of the available grants that might be useful to your business.

Recently, I’ve been watching the Government website (and some of the best grant providers’ websites) and have come up with a few potential recommendations for our clients.

It’s always best to speak to a grants expert before applying for these but here are some that stand out to me.

You can find links to all these grants at the end of the article!

Electric vehicle infrastructure grant for staff and fleets *

This grant helps small and medium-sized businesses reduce the cost of installing electric vehicle charging points and infrastructure for their staff and fleet vehicles.

  • Location – National
  • Applies to – Public sector, non-profit, private sector
  • Closing date – 31 March 2025
  • Amount – Up to £15,000

This could be particularly useful if you are looking to convert or expand your fleet into electric vehicles (which also offer some tax relief).

Certainly, if you are thinking about installing electric charging points for staff, the grant could cut a lot of the costs!

*A similar scheme exists for landlords, so if you’d like more information, please get in touch with the Moore Thompson team.

The Community Ownership Fund (non-profit)

This is a £150 million fund over 4 years to support community groups across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Essentially, it helps non-profits and community groups take ownership of assets which are at risk of being lost to the community.

  • Location – National
  • Applies to – Public sector and non-profit organisations
  • Closing date – 31 March 2025
  • Amount – Between £1 and £2 million

This grant is offered by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and could be a major cash boost for charities.

The idea is that the fund provides financial support to help communities save and sustainably manage local assets at risk.

It could help you:

  • Take ownership of at-risk community assets like land or buildings.
  • Renovate or refurbish assets for long-term sustainability.
  • Set up or buy a community business.
  • Purchase related stock, collections, or intellectual property.
  • Relocate a community asset within the same area for better use.
  • Develop new assets linked to saving or preserving existing ones.

If you’re interested in capitalising on this and would like help doing so, please give me a call!

Business Events Growth Programme

This supports the UK’s business events sector by attracting international events, enhancing their global profile, and fostering new events.

The overarching goal with this grant is for VisitBritain to aid organisations in hosting and expanding international business events.

  • Location – England, Wales, and Scotland
  • Applies to – Public Sector, Non-profit, Private Sector, Local authority
  • Closing date – 31 January 2025
  • Amount – Between £2,000 and £20,000

The programme welcomes applications from a range of organisations, including:

  • Event organisers
  • Convention bureaus
  • Convention centres
  • Universities
  • Other associations

The funder requests that partnerships be clearly outlined in applications so it’s important you get this right.

As such – and with all the available grants out there at the moment – we highly recommend you speak to a grants expert before proceeding.

If you need help, please get in touch with our team.
