Moore Thompson celebrates agricultural expertise of Partner Andrew Heskin as he moves into consultancy

Leading East of England accountancy firm, Moore Thompson has celebrated the remarkable career of Andrew Heskin FCA MSc, who stepped down as Agricultural Partner this year – after almost three decades with the firm.

Andrew joined Moore Thompson, now part of the wide Sumer Group of accountancy and advisory firms, in 1995 following his training and qualification with Grant Thornton and was appointed partner at the Spalding office in 1998.

Over the following three decades, he became one of the most respected agricultural accountants in the region, advising farmers and rural businesses across Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire on everything from tax planning and succession to raising finance and navigating the shifting landscape of agricultural policy.

His background lends particular credibility to that work, thanks to a Masters in Agricultural Economics and drawing on direct experience of working on his family’s farms.

Andrew has consistently brought both technical rigour and genuine practical understanding to his clients’ most complex challenges.

Partners, associates and colleagues gathered recently to mark Andrew’s 29-year contribution to the firm and to the wider agricultural community he has served throughout his career.

In a fitting tribute to his enduring enthusiasm for the sector, Andrew secured a significant new agricultural client for Moore Thompson on the very day of the celebration.

Andrew will continue to work with Moore Thompson in a consultancy capacity, remaining active in the sector he has devoted his professional life to.

Andrew Heskin said: “The years fly by quickly when you genuinely enjoy what you do.

Agriculture has never been a straightforward sector to work in, what with the policy changes, the market pressures and the succession challenges that many farmers face, but that complexity is exactly what makes it interesting.

“I am extremely proud of the relationships we have built with clients over the years, many of whom I have worked with across generations of the same family.

“Moving into consultancy feels like the right next step rather than a conclusion and I am looking forward to continuing to support Moore Thompson’s agricultural clients in this new capacity.”

Mark Hildred, Managing Director of Moore Thompson, said: “Andrew’s contribution to this firm has been exceptional and the breadth of knowledge and trust he has built within the agricultural community is something that cannot be overstated.

“The fact that he brought in a new client on the day we celebrated his career says everything about his commitment and his standing in the sector.

“We are delighted that he will remain part of the Moore Thompson family as a consultant and we look forward to continuing to benefit from his expertise.”
