Our commitment to the future
It is great to be celebrating our past, but we also have an eye on the future.
As part of our year-long celebration, we will be undertaking a number of campaigns to support the wider community – including planting 100 trees.

Our History
We are proud of our past. Here are some of the key landmarks that affected the development of our firm:
- Reg Thompson becomes involved in a practice previously operated by Cooper-Parry, Hall, Doughty and Co of Derby.
- Joseph Stephenson, founder of Stephenson Smart & Co, establishes over 30 practices from a head office in Peterborough.
- Tony Moore, the firm’s first senior partner, joins and serves for nearly 50 years.
- Moore & Price merges with Thompson & Co to form Moore Thompson, bringing together two long-established Spalding chartered accountant firms.
- Mark became a Partner at Moore Thompson, later taking on the role of Managing Partner of Moore Thompson from Bill Creasey in 2004.
- Having joined the firm in 1995, Andrew rose to the role of Partner.
- Originally joining the practice in 1997, Craig was promoted to Partner in 2006.
- Starting with the firm in 1986, Mark was appointed Partner in 2006.
- Chris joins the practice as a Partner following a merger with another local firm, later becoming a consultant in 2025.
- Moore Thompson offers bespoke grant and funding services to meet clients’ needs
- On January 1 2017, the firm welcomed a new Partner, Heather Bright, whilst Tim Martin has retired as a Partner.
- In 2008 Matt joined Moore Thompson and later became Partner in 2018.
- Louise Bacon took up the position of Associate and has been assisting the Partners in ensuring that the Moore Thompson name continues to be well promoted in the local area.
- Kieran was promoted to HR & Payroll Director in 2021.
- Having originally joined us as work experience in 2004, Emma was made a partner in 2022.
- Phil joined Moore Thompson in 1995 and rose through the ranks to be made an Associate in 2022.
- Moore Thompson kicked off 2023 with the promotion of Hannah Butcher to the position of the practice’s newest Partner.
- Moore Thompson expands tax services with key appointment of experienced Tax Manager
- Moore Thompson expands into Stamford with the acquisition of Jackson and Grimes, continuing its strategic growth in the region.
- The firm celebrates 30 years in Wisbech.
