Applications now being welcomed for 2025 Community Garden Grants
Applications are now open for the 2025 National Garden Scheme (NGS) Community Garden Grants, offering funding between £1,000 and £5,000 to support community garden projects across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
If your charity or community group is looking to develop or enhance a community garden, this is an excellent opportunity to secure financial backing for your project.
Who can apply?
The grant scheme is open to fully established community groups, registered charities, and Community Interest Companies (CICs).
However, local authorities, parish councils, and schools are not eligible for this funding.
To qualify, you must ensure that your project relates to an existing or proposed community garden or similar space and that there are no access issues regarding ownership of the land.
What can the funding be used for?
Grants can be used to cover a variety of items essential to developing and maintaining community garden spaces. Eligible costs include:
- Plants and containers
- Materials for flower or vegetable beds
- Greenhouses, polytunnels, and sheds
- Seating
- Hand tools and small garden power tools
However, salaries, promotional costs, and large mechanical tools are not eligible for funding under this scheme.
Application details
Applications must be submitted online through the National Garden Scheme website by noon on 28 October 2024.
Be sure to include a detailed breakdown of costs, photographs or drawings of the project site, and information on how your project will benefit the community in the long and short term.
Successful applicants will be notified in March 2025, and projects should be completed within one year of receiving the grant.
