Creative businesses benefit from £17.5 million funding pot
Businesses across the UK are to benefit from new funding for the creative industries. The Government has announced several new schemes to help companies create jobs, grow their operations and attract investment.
With the creative industries growing at twice the rate of the wider economy, the Government hopes to support further development of these sectors, which generate around £115.9 billion annually.
Create Growth Programme
Local authorities will receive funding via this programme worth £1.275 million per region from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to fund business support activities, such as networking to help them “attract investment and exchange ideas”.
Six regions will receive support through these grants including Suffolk and Cambridgeshire and Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
Companies will also be able to access up to £7 million worth of support via grants that are designed to help them invest in future success.
To apply businesses will have to demonstrate their potential to grow rapidly and become sustainable through private investment.
This funding comes alongside a £950,000 sector-wide careers programme to help more young people enjoy a career in the sectors and grants of up to £25,000 for seventeen of the UK’s leading start-up games studios.
