Moore Thompson reverses Advent tradition with donations to local food banks
While most of us look forward to opening a new door each day on our Advent calendar, East of England accountancy firm Moore Thompson has reversed the tradition this year with gifts to local food banks.
Collections from across its offices in Spalding, Market Deeping, Wisbech and Peterborough have been sent to good causes across the region after its team took it upon themselves to collect a new item for the 24 days of Advent to donate to people in need.
Staff collected a range of items including tinned food, toiletries, pasta, nappies, biscuits and other essentials throughout December.
With this year being particularly tough for many local families and individuals, the firm felt it would be a great idea to give something back and has made a sizeable donation to help out.
One of the good causes to benefit is Agape Care Foodbank, based near Moore Thompson’s offices in Spalding.
Speaking about the incredible donation made by the team, Emma Wilson, a Partner at the firm, said: “We were amazed by the generosity of our team this year and couldn’t believe just how much we managed to collect in such a short time.
“I am sure this will have a great impact on many local people and bring some festive cheer during, what has been, a particularly challenging year for all.
“I want to say a huge thank you to all my colleagues who got behind us and did their bit for their local food banks.”
If this wasn’t enough, the firm has wrapped up the year with a Christmas jumper day fundraiser. Donning various festive knitwear, the team at Moore Thompson raised more than £100 for Save the Children with its latest charity event.
Mark Hildred, Moore Thompson’s Managing Partner, said: “We have a long and proud tradition of supporting local causes at our firm and I am glad that this lives on with our latest donations.
“None of this would be possible without our incredible team, who not only work immensely hard for our clients but also always rally behind us during our festive fundraising campaigns.”
